The drawings and blueprints below are the first to be published. It is estimated that we can produce a minimum of two blueprints per week.They will be added as they are completed. Dimensions will be verified as the CAD drawings are converted into their 3D wax, and again after they are cast in brass.

The two standards for basic SHAY bodies are the 28 ton Nn3 and the 60 ton Z. The relative actual sizes are very similar in length and height, the Z scale model being based on the 60 ton, and the Nn3 on the 28 ton.
David P. Chan is the first client for a SHAY "Custom Design" from SEARAILS. His custom design selections are published here with the CAD Blueprint drawing of the SHAY Standard Base Body. Each selection is noted in the Blueprint. There are three views; Top, Side Elevation, and Perspective.
The details Mr. Chan selected are of his own choosing, and not specifically reproduced from an existing Lima SHAY design.

Narrow gauge was the preferred rail standard.

You may select whichever components you wish without fear of another modeler having the EXACT SAME configuration. Yours will be unique, and you can define a new component design for your specific needs. Each new component design submitted will be thoroughly studied and priced within the range of the existing catalog. The "B" Class Two-Truck SHAY

SEARAILS research indicated the 2700+ SHAYs that Lima produced for Logging, Mining, and Freight hauling were not "cookie-cutter" designs. Each SHAY purchase used a basic gear-powered concept, with many different design features.

You may create a SHAY specifically of your own design without the labor of research, investment, development, and production. SEARAILS provides a catalog of many different prototypical components including; trucks, fore and aft lights, exhaust stacks, steam domes, grit domes, bells, whistles, choices of metal or wood cabs both open and closed, fuel bunkers for wood, coal, and oil, water containment, fore and aft pilots of metal, wood, or grates, with coupler housings that support the wide variety of couplers available in the different scales, and cab railings and steps, boiler backheads and steam controls, and tenders of different configurations, all using 6.5mm gauge for Z scale and Nn3.

SEARAILS provides a catalog with some of these options, and accepts requests for additional options to be included in its SHAY catalog.
